iTunesU and The Entrepreneurial Movement Leader

iTunes recently added the coolest thing: iTunesU (iTunes University). Go to iTunes and take a look. It’s amazing. Again, I think an iPod is essential equipment for every movement leader. There is so much information available for all of us to stay “continuous learners” all our lives.

The Free Flow of Information in Movements

Movements expand based on the free sharing of information. Network theory tells us that; living systems theory reinforces it over and over. So, to build movements, we must freely share information and ensure that information flows throughout the “social network.” Secrets create bottlenecks. Early Christianity fought against the gnostic notion of “protected or insider information.”

So, appreciating the free flow of information at iTunesU, I’ve begun to subscribe. I began at the Stanford Technology Ventures Program–the first lecture I downloaded was by Gregory Waldorf, CEO for eHarmony.com. Did you know that 200 marriages a day take place from individuals who met on eHarmony?

Anyway, his lecture was on the 5 Must-Haves of an Entrepreneurial Career–plus a 6th one that came out of the Q&A. Since I think “everything applies to everything,” I wonder if his five points apply to being movement leaders or better entrepreneurial movement leaders.

Waldorf’s Five Must-Haves of Entrepreneurial Movement Leaders.

They must

1. Work with Great People
2. Take Risks
3. Be Willing to Adapt
4. Love what They do
5. Put Their Plans into Action Now
and
6. Value their Jobs for the Meaning they provide.
