Podcast: Interview with Steve Addison

steve-addisonSteve Addison is a life-long student of movements that renew and expand the Christian faith. Steve currently serves as Director of Church Resource Ministries (CRM) Australia. Out of his research into Christian movements and work with church planting movements, Steve has distilled the following five characteristics of dynamic movements.

1. White Hot Faith
2. Commitment to a Cause
3. Contagious Relationships
4. Rapid Mobilization
5. Adaptive Methods

Last week, I had a chance to interview Steve (via Skype) on these five characteristics and his thinking on movements and movement building. Let me encourage you to listen to the attached “narrowcast” to the staff and volunteers of the Military Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ.

As Steve encourages us, we need to measure our efforts at “building movements everywhere” in light of these five characteristics.

Are our efforts at movement building fueled by a “white hot faith?”
Are our staff and volunteers and students captured by the cause of expanding God’s kingdom?
Are we fostering an atmosphere of contagious relationships…are people “gossiping” the gospel?
Are we hesitant to launch new believers into ministry? Do we create an environment in which they are continually learning and growing?
Are we adaptive….or stuck in our methods?
